A piece of Tyvec is a very common choice. It's light, affordable, and waterproof.

Mine has GoRilla tape on the corners with a hole punched if I want to stake it off.
Mostly my shoes and gear will weight it just fine.

I use a cheap Walmart tarp and just stake it down under my tarp. I think this helps keep moisture from condensing on the under side of the tarp, plus, it is nice being able to step on something other than grass in the dark when you get up to pee.
tyvec-cheap, weighs nothing and you can hold it down in the corners with a few small rocks.
Definitely my tyvec combo rain kilt the stuff works great and for the price you cannot beat it. If you have an old tarp lying around with a good section that would be great too. I did that for probably ten years before my tyvec kilt.
The Sluggard's craving will be the death of him, for his hands refuse to work.
Another +1 for Tyvek. I have used it for years as a footprint for my tent to keep it from picking up dust, dirt or mud and also as something to stand on when changing clothes. Now, I still bring it along with my hammock. It's lightweight and can pack down small and can easily be rinsed / washed off when I get home. The other nice thing is that you can probably find large pieces of it at construction site in the garbage piles...that's where I found mine.
