Tried it, but it ripped in several places with the first use, even with me being careful. My wife tells me you can get these of varying quality (thickness of material). Maybe that is the key to the equation...

Same here, i reckon i must have got a really nasty one cos i just put my fingers straight through it while tssting in the shed. Got about three go's on it before it was torn to shreds

That's weird, I bet I've put on and taken off mine at let's 50 times now with no holes yet, I am mindful that they aren't as strong as ripstop nylon so I am careful with them and make sure I don't pull on them if they get in a bind.

I picked up one of these for $1 the other day. When I took it apart, I could stick my finger through the side (tearing the mesh). Are they all this flimsy or did I just pick one a really cheap one?

Great idea (whoever thought of it), but I'm way too harsh on gear to use this. That's the main reason I haven't purchased anything made of cuben fiber......yet! haha.
