I'm a backpacker and I've started to lean towards DL. I found that 1.1oz SL hammocks stretch too much to be comfortable for my 180lbs and that I'm most comfortable in a fabric over 1.8oz. My reasoning for a 1.1oz DL then is that it's only 2-3oz heavier than a 1.8 SL and I have the option of using my pad (which comes with me regardless of whether I bring a UQ or not). Sure, I could use a pad in a SL as well, but it's not nearly as comfortable.

I think the double layer is a good idea. You obviously won't push the weight limit of a single but you do have more options with a double, and options are good. I have had the Ridgerunner double for three years and like it very much. The weight difference from single to double is small and IMO the flexibility offsets the minimal weight difference easily.
As far as underquilts go, i prefer a full length. Yes it is heavier but with a 3/4 and cold weather you will also need a foot pad. I haven't actually gone that way so I'm not speaking from experience but it seems like the 3/4 and foot pad must weigh pretty close to the full length. (Again, not speaking from experience so someone else would know for certain.) I would also think that you run the risk of having cold air come in between the two if they should separate as you move around at night.
As someone else has already said, you do NOT want to use a thick pad if you decide to slip a pad in. I have tried that and it makes the hammock a bit wobbly and makes sitting sitting up an adventure. A 1/2 to 3/4 inch pad work pretty well and they do help prevent what little shoulder squeeze you may encounter. But at 5'9" and 190 lbs I don't have shoulder squeeze issues so I doubt you would either.
    Anyway, enjoy the new gear!

Thanks for the information! I've tried to get ahold of someone at Warbonnet to switch my order to the double, but no one has gotten back to me quite yet. Maybe they took they weekend off!

Maybe they were out hanging! All my experiences with them have been positive. I'm glad to see that yours has turned out that way too!

Glad you are going with double layered. Even though it I am in the weight range of a single layer and double layer weighs more, I always go with double layer. The 2nd layer makes it harder for bugs to bite you through it.

According to the tracking number, my hammock arrived today at the local post office! Didn't want to wait for the delivery, so I'll be parked outside waiting for them to open at 9 tomorrow morning. Learning the setup process and fiddling with it should be interesting in 0° weather, but I'll sure as heck have a big ol' smile on my face.

I'm confident you will be happy with the double layer choice. It gives you many more options and has a better resale value. Plus, as was mentioned it helps put the kabosch on the dreaded MBS (Mosquito Butt Syndrome) not to be confused with CBS. I have a WBRR and a 90* hammock, both with the pad pockets and I thoroughly enjoy the flexibility of using a AHE 3/4 Ridgecreek (very affordable and comfortable) or a Costco throw UQ, AND having a pad for going to ground. I use my system for backpacking. Plus, it is my conviction or opinion that a pad in either the WBRR or 90* gives a better lay, especially by reducing foot and shoulder squeeze. I'm an old dog and not use to new tricks, but I've never had any tippy problems with a WBRR and pad. Whoooaaa....kerThump.

Go double layer and full length Lynx. Your warm bottom side will thank you.
