No validation required when I tried a search but I do have a G+ account and there maybe cookies on my PC I don't know.
Yes I've been seeing the validation.
I don't typically access the forums on my PC and was only using the search today to troubleshoot the search question.
I'd say I had to enter the validation 4-5 times today.
