double hammock hang using spreader bars

I picked up some aluminum bars to make portable hammock stands using raftingtigger's truss hub kits and used the same bars to hang two hammocks but without any additional hardware. I have short continuous loops on my hammock ends and use hammockfan's strap anchor for suspension. You can see in the pictures how I set up the double hang. Not sure if anyone else has done it this way or thought of trying it. Using 36" bars it was a perfect double hang.

I thought about using my hiking poles but I couldn't figure out a good way to hook them into place on either end. I may try to spend more time figuring that out but for now these bars are so light that it's not a big deal carrying them around on a backpack.

I've rigged up something similar to your solution for the pointy end. For the handle I larks head a continuos loop to the suspension, and larks head the other end of the loop to the handle. The handle sticks out a bit, and usually rubs the tarp, but I'm not too worried about damage.

This is how I set my wife and I's hammocks. I use 26" wood dowels currently, I need to buy something light and packable soon I guess. What do you do for a tarp?

I have a roll of Xenon/sil here and some drawings put together for a large tarp, but am hesitant to start cutting just yet. We just setup last night to test some new gear, and I used a friends big poly tarp with decent success, but I still couldn't get the ends closed up much. I also had trouble getting it to clear the spreaders very well.

we have used this set up only once, and although we brought an 11' and 12' tarp we decided against using any tarp since it was a clear night and we wanted to see the stars. we were spread 36" apart at the head end, and I suppose that may pose some challenges when it comes to pitching a tarp.
