    Velcro door closures

Im thinking of sewing on some velcro strips along the bottom edge of where my tarps dorrs overlap to hold them shut rather than using shock cord to each opposite tieout point. This way i can stick them togther and then stake out the corners without needing to fiddle with it too much to get it right. Anyone else tried this? Does it make any sense?

I have absolutely no experience with tarp doors but it seems like a great idea to me. It might trap wind and act like a sail?

Well, i dont plan on sealing it up completely. Just want to use a couple 6 inch strips where they overlap at the bottom. Ill have another look at shugs video,i thinkbi know the part youre talking about. Not sure if its the same thing im trying to describe...... just took a look at the vid. Not exactly what im wanľting to do but same concept i suppose.

I'm not sure 6" will be wide enough. It may be, but I'm not sure. I recommend pitching the tarp at various widths, pulling the doors closed, and seeing where they overlap. You need to make sure that you have velcro long enough to work no matter how you pitch your tarp.

The add on doors for my tadpole have Velcro tabs every 6-8 inches along the doors. The doors don't overlap like a superfly. I still have to stake them down if the wind is blowing hard. It is nice as it keeps them from flapping as much.

Hennessy use velcro on the side of their doors on the Typhoon/Monsoon. The only trouble is when leaves stick to it!

Yeah inwant to have enough there to adjust for different widths like you said. Ill prpbably make the strips longer. They only need to be so long because i can only overlap them a little bit without closing the tarp up too much. Ill have to play with it.
