    whoopie slings on tarp!

Has anyone used whoopie slings on there tarp ridgeline tie-outs? I forgot my Continuous ridgeline last time I went hiking, but fortunately had a spare pair of whoopie's in my bag simply larks headed them to the D rings on my 10x12 tarp wrapped them around a tree and used a small clip on each end to connect it back to the whoopie line. this allowed super easy left and right adjustment of the tarp just loosen one side and pull the other tight. had a great tight pitch and never sagged.

does that make sense? would love to know if anyone has tried this??

it worked great and it would be easy to lengthen by just moving the bury further up the line.

    thoughts comments anyone??

    whoopie slings on tarp!

Aside from the ultralite folks saying it's too heavy this makes perfect sense to me. Especially that you has the extra gear in your pack which made this work. I've got some long whoopies that I'm going to try this with... As soon as I get my new tarp.
No matter where you go...There you are..

I've been thinking about making a set out of zing-it for just this reason... I've been using a CRL but I hate the sag in the center of the tarp. When I'm just hanging in my back yard I tie out each side separately and the sag is gone. I'm leaning toward just doing a couple lengths of zing-it with a Dutch hook on 1 side and small biner on the tarp side with a.... Forgot what their called right this sec but a bury in the center to connect the 2 lines... Like a whoopie but without the large loop on one side...

In my experience, Whoopie slings are uniquely unsuited for a tarp ridgeline. They don't work under tension, and the whole point of a tarp ridgeline is tension, isn't it?

The more you work with whoopie slings, the more you'll understand that they have no business being involved with tarp ridgelines.

Interesting point, I had zero trouble with tension ill take a photo next time i set it up. tarp was tight all night temp was about 36 if that counts for anything.

use a small clip to connect the back to itself after wrapping whatever its going around, makes taking it down under tension a breeze.

May ask what your preferred method is? I've also used a continuous ridgeline with a wasp! not my favorite, but probably the easiest adjustment for coverage. I don't care for how it pulls the tarp down when staking the tarp tight.

relatively new to this scene, stumbled upon this sight and then dutchware.com (we all know what happens after that) and then shug's videos!

I use a Dutch hook on one end, a Wasp, Flyz, Fleaz or whatever on the other end. I like continuous ridgelines, but that's just my thing.

Cool thanks for input, I'm gonna do some more testing and see how it holds up.
