Guys,
Do you use the bungee style cordage for the tarp tie downs or regular cordage? I wonder if the bungee style would hold up in the wind.

I use zingit. Small zingit loop 5 wrap prusik around zingit tie down cord. That small loop is then larks head on tarp loop. All this stays intact and is easy to adjust tension. After set up I might have to tighten lines--easy. My set up does not look as neat as set ups with bungee cords. Bungees are not required-- it's your choice--both work!!
I use DIY self-tensioning tie downs. One major factor is what type of tarp you have. Anything nylon will stretch when wet and something to compensate for the stretch may be necessary to maintain a taught pitch. Poly doesn't stretch and bungees are usually not necessary.
Grhughes, go to your local sporting good store or Home Depot. Check out the section for either boat tarps or carport tarps. They usually have extra packets of small bungee that have a ball on one end a a looped bungee.
I thread the the small bungle thru my hammock tarp grommet and let the ball act as a stop. Then I tie my guy lines to this small bungee. When I stake the guy line, the small bungee self adjusts in the event of wind or cord shrinkage.
