    Lightbulb Hi New member

Hi, I am new member. Just got my second hammock. Seeing as my first one ripped on me, it was my dads from when he was in the service. I now have a GT4 and was camping and started to get cold on my backside, does any underquilt match up with any hammock or is there certain ones that match up better with certain hammocks?

In my limited experience, an underquilt is usually specific to certain types of hammocks..ie gathered end, bridge, etc.... I'm not sure what a GT4 is, but if you do some research on this site and elsewhere, I'm sure you will figure out which UQ suits it best.

yea, I'm a little baffled by the UQ aspect also. I am wondering if a lightweight insulated blanket coupled with my mummy bag would serve the same purpose. Guess you don't know till you try it out in the back yard.

Pretty much any insulation you can put on top can be adapted to go under the hammock with a variety of straps, strings, and shock cord. Every day there's a new DIY project using synthetic bags, poncho liners, down throws, reflective blankets, or some other piece of random gear. If you can afford it, are willing to carry it, and it keeps your back-side warm then that's really all that matters. There really aren't any style points for hammocks...

The search tool on here stinks.....go use google. Put in your search terms followed by "site:hammockforums.net" but without the quotes. You'll hopefully get a bunch of relevant results. When it doubt, head out to Youtube and watch Shug's videos.

    Good luck.
