About as long as a string....;-)

A 1/2 quilt should run from shoulders to mid thigh.
2/3 quilt from shoulders to knees.
Full quilt top of head to bottom of feet plus a few inches.

These are general guidelines only and are MHO, there are no set standards for this stuff.

Under quilt length for JRB Standard Family of Quilts is nominally 78 inches... Most DIY project reported over the years have followed this length for full UQ.

That UQ length will easily insulate one 6-3 from top of the head to the arches of the feet, when laying on the asym.

But hey, if you are making your own, pick any length that suits you.

I guess the next question in besides weight, when and or why would I want to use a 1/2, 1/3 length UQ over a full length UQ.

Besides weight savings, less bulk in packing. That's it!

So lets say using a half UQ in 20dF weather how do you keep your feet, knees, legs warm. Use a pad or something ??

Yes, you'd need to augment the 1/2 quilt with either things from your pack (clothing or other items or even the pack itself or use some other form of insulation such as a pad.

    tammons,

Some people bring a 'sit pad' for breaks and for sitting around on at camp. The sit pad can double as a foot pad...
