Question Line Loc 3s for ridgeline. Line thickness??

I believe LineLoc 3s would be a great RL adjustment system. Doing some searching though, I've read about some possible slippage under load. I understand that this can be resolved with a half Hitch around the Lineloc, and will do that if need be. But my question is this, is most of the slippage that people are experiencing with 1.75 Zing-It? What if I stepped up to a 2.2 Lawson wire? Or even the 3mm? Would the increased diameter and better bite fix the problem? I've used the LL 3s on lots of corner pullouts, and I think they would make such an easily adjustable RL... Your thoughts?

I use line loc 3's at every corner. I still have slippage with the 2.2, but I throw a half hitch behind them. I just like that I can just pull for tension, and that the tension is being created at the tarp.

Having worked with and built lots of gear with line loc 3's over the years, no just using 3 mm cord which is the size they are made to use will not prevent them from slipping under high loads. Adding a half hitch can help but is not the best either. In my opinion line locs do not hold tension well enough for tarp ridgelines.

Any slippery line like amsteel will slip like crazy even with half hitch. If you plan to camp in high wind situations use another type of line.
This spectra line worked best for me.

I use them on my tarp. The problem is under high tension the tail end can "slip" to one side of the tensioned end of the cord, so it's no longer under pressure, and allows it to slip. I use Lawson Glowire, fwiw. A half hitch around the line loc "handle" stops it, and is easy to tie and untie.

I put the hitch behind the loc. there is absolutely no way it can slip. just gets tighter

I've used glowire and lineloc3s on the ridgeline without a problem over a dozen times. I usually tied a half hitch but I don't think the line ever slipped to have to use it. I now use stingerz with zing it or lash it. It's both easier to set up and less bulky. I still use glowire and lineloc3s on the corners.
