Neither canvas or synthetic tents hold the heat long once the fire is out. Synthetic has a tendency to get condensation on the inside whereas canvas breathes. Canvas is more for car camping or tobogganing,,sledding,,,,,, synthetic for backpacking.

Breathability is number one reason for Canvas in cold weather (25*f or lower), above that and things can just start to wet out making Synthetics more desirable... But they trap moisture which can wet the walls and so most come with liners to deal with that.
Once again it is all about compromises

I would like to do a Silpoly tent in the same configuration for them around freezing adventures whilst still being able to utilize the stove/heat

I have been toying with this idea for sometime now, what I am really waiting for are the funds to buy the cloth.
    Do you have any plans?

Plans as in Haul in somewhere...only 6" of white here at best..not much for hauling sled in especially through the woods ...would haul in some 8km to a back lake but would like to see some more snow, meantime still furthering the backyard testing and tweaks to the system.
