QUICK AND EASY QUESTION: cinch buckle question

I just got cinch buckles and I am adding loops to them. Can I larks head the loops to the buckles so they're not permanently attached? I would wrap multiple times, like a prusik, to fill the space of the buckle. It looks like in pictures, its a continuos loop wrapped many times before finishing the loop. I will make that if there is a structural or stability reason, but otherwise, I would like to have the option to not make the loop fixed to the buckle forever.

    Thanks

    That's how I do it.

Works great. No problems with twisting or issues with the straps.

May I give you a word of caution on this. When you larks head it on the supporting rope is in the center. It will twist easier and that will let you down and ruin your strap. If you splice it on with 6 wraps it will give support on the corners. Much less likely to twist.

Take a look at post #7 in this thread:

I like this idea because you can put the cinch buckle on or take it off and leave the CL in place on the hammock.

But this IS what Dutch pointed out... Which means you have to be careful if you do that.

thank you all for your advice. I decided to follow both directions. I made one Dutch's way, and I needed to make a CL anyway, so I am going to use the other one larks headed with extra wraps to fill the side. I will monitor the larks headed one to see if it twists at all and if I see any signs, I will make the other one Dutch's way on that one too.
I like the way you can larks head right on the CL that's already attached to the hammock. I didn't think of that. I thought it would have to be attached beforehand. Thanks for that, as I'm sure I will have MANY applications for that trick

I also did a couple doing that extra wrap to fill up the space. It took only one extra wrap if I put the section of the CLs that's thick with the buries in the wraps. I'm hoping it will be reliable because it can't shift to either side.
