WARBONNET RR SPINDRIFT?

I have a ridgerunner and I love the thing. For spring/fall camping, has anyone tried Warbonnet's spindrift? Ive heard both good and bad reviews, so I'm asking for some opinions on if its worth the money. Thanks

I like mine. It definitely add a few degrees of warmth. You definitely need to vent via the doors or you will get some condensation. I usually crack the door maybe 12 inched and let it hang down. If you use a pad and decide to get the spindrift ask warbonnet to add a zipper on the end so you can slide a pad in with the spindrift on.

Definitely keep it vented. I really liked mine for cutting down on wind, but I learned after the first night that is you don't vent it, you will get a lot of condensation.

As far as the wind/waterproof -ness of it, how does it hold up? If the forecast is only for a little drizzle or light snow, would this work well enough to block out the wind/water that a tarp would normally take care of? Would I even need a tarp? It is just a little hard to tell from the website and reviews

Note to Goathanger: I checked out your nephew's band on soundcloud. They are really good, very nice sound. How old are they?

The spindrift is not made as a substitute for a tarp. Wind it does help with, but rain or snow will soak through in minutes. I have one of my RR's set up with the spindrift all the time and use it for any cooler weather conditions. It will help to hold in a few degrees and also gives you more of a private feel to your set up. I also like that it helps to block light....if there is a full moon I have trouble sleeping and the spindrift helps a bunch with that.

Cool, thanks for checking them out! They're 19, but maybe the guy playing lead is 20, can't remember.

I'm really proud of them. They recorded that demo in their math teacher's basement. Thanks again for checking them out.

As for the spindrift, like Paul said, it's no replacement for a tarp. A very light dusting of snow shouldn't be a problem, but I wouldn't want anything more than that on it. It's only held up by shock cord, anyway. I only use mine in deep winter, and always with a tarp. Here's a couple pictures of mine I've posted on here about a hundred times.... but I like it!

Very cool! I can't wait for mine to come. Ive read the shipping times are long during this season but it is well worth the wait

It got down to around 8 to 10 deg that night and it worked perfect to block the wind.
