NC > Cliffs of Neuse state park > goldsboro > this weekend beautiful weather

Has anyone ever camped with a hammock at this park? I'm going for my first hang in my WBBB this weekend. Any good campsites or advice would be appreciated. I thought about doing the remote group site but you need 5 people. I think that would have more trees. If anyone is bored and wants to show me some pointers, I would be open to sharing a remote site.

    Thanks for the help!

There are two of us here at Ft Ancient this evening with WBBBs. There is no one else here tonight. Come on. We are not experts as this is our first in ours. I suppose we will be pros by the morning

Not sure if you have looked at the document Gunner76 created but the park is on it.

I have camped there and think the group sites would be the way to go.

I have hung my hammock there at the family campground a few years back. Most of the sites are hammock friendly. The group sites are also hammock friendly but the road getting there is a single lane dirt road. While The Terminators Ford Focus made it I would preferred something with a little more ground clearance. Rent the group site and tell the rangers that the others did not show up. I would recommend group site 1, 2 or 3...lots of trees for hanging.

I could probably do a one nighter on Saturday. I need more prep time for a whole weekend. I have twin toddlers and the wife would need more of a heads up.

I am planning to do a one nighter too since I have to work till dark on Friday. My girlfriend will be hanging too, her first time, so we will be bringing a tent as backup. You could bring the family if you want... Or not to take a break . We are pretty quiet and wouldn't bother you anymore than you would want to be.

Group site 3 is still available and plenty of family sites too. PM me if you want to set something up.

    Thumbs up

Yes, it was great to meet Khnum! He taught me a lot and it was perfect weather as predicted. Good thing we had internet to learn how to use all the dutch bling I had I had a little adventure when my zipper came off and I was zipped inside the hammock. Apparently the zipper stop came off the end and so the zipper ended up in my hand when I zipped it close. Khnum helped me fix it in the morning. 20151212_205627.jpg 20151213_075731.jpg20151213_080630.jpg
