Yah, that and the potential misuse if he used a MSH/toggle set-up. Besides, I've just never partaken of the WS Kool Ade.

I have a number of suspensions but my go to for my daughter are the Warbonnet buckles/webbing. Always attached to the hammock, easy to use. They've stood the test of time.

Atlas straps are easiest but a Dutch Buckle suspension is lighter and cheaper and still super easy.

This is my new favorite suspension-of-the-moment, minus pulling the tail back through the buckle as a lock. I leave the MB in tri-glide mode, hang the CL through it a la Dutch Spiders, and done - the weight applied to the CL/MB acts as the lock.

This is good to hear. My concern had been that there might not be quite enough room for the CL to fit in the top gate/slot with the webbing. It looks like the Spider has a tiny bit wider slot at the top for this purpose. Guess I was over-thinking it.

    Thanks,

[I wonder what the new favorite suspension will be for us tomorrow(?)]

I too vote atlas straps. :-)

I gave my son "retired" atlas straps. Very simple, quick and nearly foolproof - he loves them. Although today I would select the daisy chain from RSBTR instead.

He sees and admires my setup but so far he is content with the atlas straps. I guess the extra weight in his backpack is pretty minor for a teenager...

That's a nice trick to know. Obviously it's simple to do the Prusic/larkshead thing with the CL in hand. Hadn't thought about doing it with the CL already on the hammock.

If you put the buckles on the continuous loops then thread a strap through the buckle and put a loop in the other end of the strap you can either invest in a pair of Dutch hooks or teach him to pull a loop through the loop and use a stick as a toggle at the tree end. The only thing that comes out is the toggle and that can be a found stick or something with a tether. I do the same thing with climbing biners because I carry two for multiple reasons.
    YMMV
