    of course- if you are able to make gear why buy Byer? I know there are instructions for gathered end hammocks and deployable bugnets on this site- taffeta (nylon or polyester) and chiffon are cheaper than sil and nano-seeum.. and just as effective.
    Just sayin...

    PS - more specifically; for hammocks taffeta is a good start- ripstop is better and sil makes the best tarps, but you have one of those already. still think chiffon (nylon/poly) makes the best bug net- and so many colors!

    I've found that it's only expensive if you want your stuff light and someone else makes it for ya. This of course does not include quality insulation.
