    Missing Anything?

I've hammock camped when it's warm in the summer and cool in the fall, but want to try winter hanging. I have an ENO doublenest, atlas straps, and a pro fly tarp. I know I'll need an underquilt and am looking at the ENO vulcan. Is it any good? If not, what are some good options? I'd like to keep it in the $150-175 range if possible. Are there any other major things that I'm leaving out (I have layers and sleeping bag covered)?

I appreciate any and all help, I'm still a newbie at this.

I have a ProFly tarp too and it doesn't offer much coverage for windy, or even breezy cold weather. Still a good tarp but I just ordered a Warbonnet Superfly tarp for more coverage.
My underquilt has been the best investment I've made so far. I'm getting by with a totally worn out sleeping bag because of my Hammock Gear UQ.

If you're just car camping I guess it would be ok, but if you're backpacking then it is over priced and way too heavy for the degree rating it is. I personally would never buy one. There are way better options. Look at Hammock Gear, Warbonnet, Arrowhead Equipment, and Wilderness Logic just to name a few.

Stay away from ENO underquilts - they're expensive and underperforming and you'd do a lot better ordering from a cottage vendor, rather than a big box vendor. You might find five positive reviews on the entire Internet of ENO's underquilts, if that.

If you're looking at the $150 price range I'd look at the KAQ's from arrowhead-equipment.com. Quality synthetic quilts with accurate temp ratings.

Thanks for all the help! I actually came across Arrowhead KAQs while reading a negative review about the ENO haha. The new river seems decent and should work with my hammock

I have a new River. Good quilt. It hangs under my full time hammock in my room. I did use it on one overnight outside hang into the 40's just to see how it worked. Everything was warm.

Their site says it's rated to around 25, depending on the model. Do you think that's right?

Sounds like you're almost set. If your ENO doesn't have one, you might think about adding a structural ridgeline with an organizer on it. It's especially nice to have things handy when it's cold out.
