Ridgeline Materials: What works best for you?

So, I'm not completely new to hanging but I'm still a bit of a greenhorn, and I'm currently in the process of upgrading my existing gear set. I'm putting a ridgeline on my hammock and was wondering what materials do you people use? I was considering using paracord(I'm never short on that), but after doing some research on the forums many agree that paracord isn't ideal because of its stretch factor. Now I'm considering a Dutchware UCR Adjustable Ridgeline. What materials do you find works best for a DIY ridgeline on a hammock (Amsteel, etc.)?
    Thanks,
    D

Slowly swaying in a hammock is my version of a steady morphine drip, without the risk of renal failure.

Lots of folks use zing-it/lash-it which is just smaller AmSteel. Another popular option is dynaglide which is a bit stronger and a bit heavier. It falls between zing-it and 7/64 AmSteel for both weight and strength. Finally, you could just use 7/64 AmSteel. As you said already, stretchy would not work well.

If this is for a tarp ridgeline instead of a structural ridgeline, use some 1.75mm lash-it. Last I checked, Dutch had a great deal on spool of the stuff.

Something to not overlook: Lash It and Zing It come also in 2.2mm. That would be a step up from 1.75 and a bit less strength than Dynaglide, although plenty strong enough.

Get 1.2mm dyneema single braid fishing line from ebay.
    300lb break strength, and cheap.

I recently spliced some 1.75 Zing it for tarp tie-outs and some 2.2 for an adjustable ridgeline.
The 2.2 was much easier to splice.

I've used both 1.75 zing it and 7/64 Amsteel and no more of a difference in weight I would use the Amsteel. It's plenty strong and works well. It's not hard to make an adjustible ridge line so you can find the amount of slack in the hammock that works best for you.

Some really good options mentioned above.

GadgetUK not only makes a very good suggestion, but mentions ebay - a source that is definitely worth giving a look.

Yet another option: I've heard mentioned on this site, from a person in Canada if memory serves me correctly, the use a Dacron line also. So I went and bought some and tried it. It has a bit more stretch to it than other stuff mentioned above, BUT is quite inexpensive, quite light, super super easy to splice (yep - it's hollow braid too), and can be "pre-stretched" before you splice & use it. That of course can be done with all the stuff mentioned above. Once "pre-stretched", it stays there - in my experience.
I use it for my tarp tie-outs and, make woopie & fixed SRL for hammocks from it.
