    1) I do use my Sawyer filter in the winter and just keep it in my front pants pocket with my baby wipes so they don't freeze.

    2) I found last year that there was almost no sediment in this clean running blue ribbon trout stream. There may be just a couple of the smallest floaties but after a good boiling I just pour off the top and let them stay in the bottom.

This just looks like it's getting better and better. I will be bringing my two meal of deer chili and BBQ rice dish and of course beer bread. Now maybe as it gets closer I will have to look at something for a break feast meal. i keep inviting people here in Kentuckee, but they think I am nuts for driving all the way up there and then camping out in the below zero weather, me I think is it Feb. 25th yet, I wanna leave an go north. I have all this cold weather gear to test and now I'm not sure I have a big enough pulk to carry everything. Oh well I guess I can leave the salt and pepper to save weight, but not the hot sauce!

I was planning on bringing oatmeal with maple syrup and maybe some walnuts, fruit, etc. Always sounds good on a cold morning.

What's the plan if everyone brings a bunch of extra stuff normally pulled in a pulk and there ends up being no snow???

I have a perk coffee pot I will bring. Just spent sun. mon., and tuesday nights out back of the cabin. They are logging so the trail is plowed 3/4 of the way back. Snowmobiles had the rest packed. Had to go and check out the honeymoon cabin nice. Ground was not frozen under the snow

Which way did you hike in from Pickerel Lake Campground or from the parking lot with the two pillars off of sturgeon Valley Road?

You read my mind, Ed. I can't imagine them using the access trail for logging. They'd tear it up. There is that clearcut logging area on the west side of the trail on the south end of the Fontanilis Club property and I think there is another access road on that side.

FYI, myself and the usual suspects (Turkey, Squirrelbait and Donk) are heading to Pickeral Lake CG, which is about 2 miles east of Green Timbers today (Friday) for the weekend to do some recon work on trail access to Green Timbers, plus look at the CG as a potential new location for the November 2016 Gluttony Hang. If anyone wants to join our impromptu hang, come on out and enjoy the snowy woods!

I came in at the two pillers. Is that the Valley Road black top from Vanderbuilt
Gate was unlocked and open. They have 2 skidders and trailers back there
The trail is froze over it would be hard to hurt
