Just in case you have never been there, here are a few more details. Assuming you are arriving from the south on I-75, take the Vanderbilt exit and turn right. Unless they have changed it, East Sturgeon Valley Road is called Main St. in town so look for the sign that says Main and turn left (east). The first time I went I went way too far. My odometer reads it at 5 miles east of town. Either way if you get to the river you went just a little too far.

At Main Street in Vanderbilt there should be a flashing yellow light.

I plan on bringing either venison chili or fajitas made with either chicken or venison. I will leave it up to you all. Send your requests.

Just found out my wife is having minor surgery the Thursday before this trip. 25 years of marriage has taught me that there is no surgery minor enough that a weekend of hammocks and camp fire cooking gets to trump staying home and playing nurse.

    See y'all in the spring.

Understandable. Hope the surgery goes well.

    +1 Vote for FAJITAS!
(seems like Badwind7 offered venison chili so if that influences the vote... I'm not above using persuasion for fajitas)

We'll need to get a running tally of the menu so we can see what is offered and where the holes are..
From what I can see so far we have:
    Donk_67: Coffee and Peculator
    AndrewB: Bacon and Baked Goods
    cncd11: Pasole pork butt
Badwind7: Bacon, Venison Chili, BBQ Rice
    KG8JK: Muffins, Cajun bacon
    MichiganDave: Biscuits and gravy
    Squirrel bait: Venison Fajitas?

Lots of room still for meal ideas!
Is there any word from the Bushcraft guys about what they might be doing?
I'm looking for my niche so I can fill a need with my meal.
I'll be doing a desert (probably Oreo Balls) but I want to do a meal also.

I'm really looking forward to this and hanging with all of you again!

Chances are you guys won't want my food (Vegan) LOL

I'll most likely bring baked goods or snacks etc. I will know more in February

    +2 for FAJITAS! Decision made

In addition to biscuits (provided by Turkey) and my famous sausage gravy, I'll be making a batch of my hot apple cobbler in the dutch oven for dessert sometime during the weekend. Also, I'm still deciding between 2 recipes: Jambalaya with rice, andouille sausage, ham, red peppers or a Scottish Venison Stew (still waiting for a friend to send over the recipel).

If anybody needs an idea for something to bring or cook up, I'll toss out the following: HOT BUTTERED CIDER . A party favorite for all ages, nothing says Winter like a stick of butter. Ingredients:
8 cups apple cider or juice
    2 tbsp. brown sugar
    4 sticks cinnamon
    1 tspn. allspice
    1 tspn. whole cloves
1 lemon peel (cut into strips)
    2 tbsp. butter
    optional cinnamon sticks

    Directions
Combine Cider and Brown Sugar into Large Vat. Add Spices and Lemon Peel to “Spice Bag” (wrapped in cheese cloth), and Add to Vat
Boil, Cover and Simmer for 15 Minutes. Add 1/2 Tea*spoon to each Serv*ing (makes 10–12 servings)

I saw on the weather report that northern Michigan is expecting 2 feet of snow this week due to lake effect. Time to dust off those snowshoes!

I will also try and bring some oatmeal and maple syrup for something warm and hearty for breakfast.
