Thanks to Dutch for a great lightweight modular system!
I got to use a set of spiders this weekend camping with boy scout troop. worked good and was very simple to set up.
The only issue I had was after I had slept in hammock Friday night and needed to adjust the foot end a little higher on Saturday it was not the " slide the spider " up the webbing as I had hoped it would be. ended up having to have my son hold end of hammock and pull toward tree to get CL loosened up on Spider to allow it the move. Only thing in hammock was UQ and sleeping bag.
Thinking not going to be my main suspension but will be with me for when I need a little more reach on those long spans that Whoopie Sling and hook are to short.
My normal set is an Adutchable clip on 8' straps with my WS larks headed to them and a whoopie hook to CL on hammock.
nice addition to system for when needed and takes up no space or weight in my pack.

and still waiting on those Speed hooks 2.0
will have them in a couple weeks I'm sure of it cause Dutch said so.

You are correct and if there is weight at all on the suspension the spiders won't slide by the design. I usually put the end of the hammock under my armpit to adjust the spiders.

When using the continuous loop on the spider is a drip line still needed between the hammock body and the spider? I ask as the webbing and loop are in direct contact and not separated by the hardware as in other buckle setups.

If there's enough rain and/or enough suspension in the rain, no hardware will prevent the water from running into your hammock - Derek has done a video on this:

I have never used drip lines and never had a problem. But if I would hang wide, with lots of suspension unprotected by the tarp, and rain would be expected, I would probably add drip lines.

After watching Derek's video a couple of years ago, I added drip lines, just in case. About 10 grams probably (12" piece of gutted paracord) is worth it for an unforeseen monsoon IMO). Wet hammocks = no fun.

if you get the spiders under the ends of the tarp... use the extra webbing ( adjustable tail end ) to tie a slippery half hitch above the spider. has worked well for me
