Dyed another blank a while ago, and just got around to sewing it into a hammock. This time I started with Spectra Yellow HyperD 1.6 , it then went through an orange and then red dye following the directions of the OP.

    These are sweet! Nice job!

This one is White 1.9 dyed with "Aquamarine" Rit dye, then retied and dyed with Royal Blue. The patterning was done by tying marbles into the fabric with rubber bands. I have no explination for the "Lion Face" everyone sees in this one. It was 100% accidental.

This one is HyperD 1.6 in Robin's Egg Blue, Dyed with Royal Blue Rit dye. I simply twisted the fabric up and started tying overhand knots in it. I used a few rubber bands to keep it twisted up.

This one is HyperD 1.6 in Spectra Yellow, Dyed Orange then red. Not a lot of the yellow made it through, which is disappointing to me. My daughter says it looks like the sun.

Absolutely awesome looking, and as far as stealth... if you did these in some darker tones(browns, greens, blacks on tan, grey ect base colors)the result would be as good as any camo!I have friends who run a tye-dye buisness and have a few shirts they made for me I use in turkey hunting that have proven to be a good camo option!

IMG_3666.jpg my kids did these small samples of 1.1 white ripstop from RBTR. we cut these to make small water bottle sleeves as a test. ultimately, we want to make a whole set of tie-dye things: top quilt, hammock even try a tarp (start with non coated 1.1 ripstop, then treat it with silicone after tie dying). the only thing i'd change is to hem the fabric beforehand. we got alot of fraying through the process.

we used a bit different technique than outlines here. we used acid dye from http://dharmatrading.com/ the process is: wash the nylon with detergent, soak it in vinegar, tie it up in your pattern (these are both swirls), squirt the dye on (for the rainbow swirl, we put a different color in each section of the pie after it is tied up), let it dry and then steam it for a couple hours to set the color. more involved process, but it is easier to get more color and patterns this way.

when we get the top quilts done (hopefully next week) i'll start another thread about the process.

Johne, you could hang those on your wall as art! (P.S. Cave Creek is a neat area. We've visited a number of times- SIL and MIL live at Legend Trails.)
