+1 on Dutch hammocks & gear
If you do not want to go Dutch then get 5 yards of suitable hammock material. Make it into a no sew lashed end hammock and try it. If that works then you can clean it up into whatever you want for a basic sewed hammock. If it does not work you can modify that into a bridge hammock. Either way you get some stuff sacks. ;-) You do want the extra yard to have enough to fold over and whip to get a knot to anchor to.
YMMV

Free advice worth what you paid for it. ;-)

longer hammock
+1 for Dutch or make it yourself. Don't mess with that conversion.
+1 longer hammock! Yes lets see the new one!! Hope it works for you!!
It is really too bad that the tripartite [sewn from three strips of cloth] hammocks are the ones so readily available. I bet there are lots of people who never make it to the forum who get turned off to hammocking in general and/or never find out how much better the experience is for the same price, but with different gear.

Now convert your ENO into a gear sling
Cut it down to about 5',put continuous loops on each end. Also makes a good chair for those short luny breaks.
