After watching a 4423 sew a wooden yardstick (don't try this at home), and finding it for $120 on Amazon I went for it.
I've made a handful of items now including some tree straps out of heavy duty 1 1/2" webbing.
I also modified a pair of Frogg Toggs pants into something else which meant sewing through two layers of Frogg Togg waistband - which is four layers of whatever frogg toggs is made of plus two layers of elastic. Maybe not as substantial as the webbing, but much thicker. Nothing has phased this machine so far - it just goes.
The machine feels fantastic and hasn't had a single hiccup.
I can't speak for longevity of course, so YMMV.
