New For Sale forum coming soon
The moderators and administrators have been working behind the scenes for a few weeks on revamping the For Sale forum to allow for more control by the members. The goal is to allow sellers to Open, Close, Edit, and Move their own threads in the For Sale section only. The purposes of the changes are to make it easier for the seller, the buyer, and the Hammock Forums team to sell, buy and moderate.

While making these changes we are also setting up some new guidelines. The types of items to be sold on Hammock Forums will be limited along with limiting the number of items and threads a member can have open at any one time. You can obtain more information on the guidelines and changes HERE.

On Monday (11/30/15) the current For Sale forum will be closed so as not to permit any new threads to be created for 72 hours. This will give the current sellers time to organize what they have before the current For Sale forum is removed. When the new For Sale forum opens on Thursday (12/03/15) all old threads will be gone and members will need to re-post their items following the new guidelines. Good idea, not only will this help to keep the fs section clean but also give the mods a break, i have to think that monitering the fs section as it is can be a full time job
Hopefully everyone will take the time to do thier part right and read the guidlines!.

I don't like the idea of limiting the outdoor gear. Passing outdoor gear around within the community seems way more appealing than putting it on EBay just because it's a tent or electronic.

Limiting to selling no more than 3 items? That seems unusually restrictive.

Agreed. I understand that this site is called hammock forums but the ground still does exist even if some want to deny it! :P I am not a moderator or the site owner but I don't really see the harm in allowing tents to be sold on this forum between community members.

I disagree, alot of times people have 5,6 or more items listed in one thred and they dont keep up on it, what we end up with is alot of post like - is this still available and causes cunfusion to would be buyers, not to mention that there are some that only seem to log onto the forum to sell things.
You see the same people selling multipul items day after day but you dont see them participating in any conversations or sharing thier knowledge or inssight that would be construtive or helpful to others, all they do is buy and sell and that's not really what the intention of the fs section is for.
But hey, dont get mad at me, this is just how i see it and is my personal opinion, .
I dont make the rules around here, i just try to follow them.

Not for nothing but if you are trying to minimize the involvement of mods for moving threads, run a cron job that will perform a SQL query and trip a trigger based on the existence of a keyword or key phrase. Wouldn't have to mod the forum at all.
