Hi, I would like to share with you my first DIY hammock. I bought a BIAS Weight Weenie micro (13oz with suspension) two years ago and love it, but today, I made myself another that I could take with me mountain biking and in other places where I am not backpacking but would like a place to rest. I have been reading a lot on hammockforums to get my ideas, so thanks a lot everyone!

I used the green Argon 67 material from DutchWare. I know it is only recommended for quilts and stuff, but I am only 150lbs, So I thought I would try it. I have sat in it, bounced in it, and had extra weight in it, and it seems to be doing fine. I am thinking I would use this less than 5 times a year, so durability is not paramount. I ordered 3 yards and simply hemmed all the way around. It turned out to be around 58" x 9'.
I did a variation on the Knotty mod, and do not know if anyone else have tried something similar. I took Lash-it and shock cord and did something very similar to the "shock cord tarp tensioners" that's in the sticky. I inserted this into the full length of the channel on both sides of the hammock. Seems to work just like the mod on my BIAS hammock, with the added benefit that it relieves the tension on the edges of the hammock, and it also does not matter if I put my feet left or right. I could not take a picture of it because it's already hemmed in.
My suspension is 5.25 feet of 1" poly webbing, and 10 feet of Dynaglide UCR. The end of the tree strap I just did an overhand on a bight knot. I attached the UCRs to the strap with a Simple Simon double bend, and the hammock to the UCR with a soft shackle and diamond knot. I see pretty big trees, so that's why I went with so much adjustability. Suspension weighs 1.5oz.
Total weight: 6.5oz. It is the size of my fist about 4x4x3"
So far. I am very happy with it.
