    Hexon 1.6 - 72 Inch Wide Hammock

I'm toying with the idea of buying a 72 inch wide hammock. These seem to be popular and I have some minor issues with a calf ridge on the two hammocks I presently own, a 58 inch Treerunner and 62 inch Blackbird XLC. The only wide hammock I have tried out is the ENO Doublenest and, it seemed to me, that the excess fabric just hung down in my face rather than enhance the lay. So I have a couple of questions:

Does a hammock from a quality cottage vendor like Dream Hammock or Simply Light Designs take advantage of the wider width (as opposed to the ENO) to improve the lay?

    Any calf ridge issues?

Will my underquilt work with a wide hammock? I have a HG Phoenix and a HG Incubator.

Is there much of a benefit over what I have now?

    I appreciate your thoughts.

I'm 6' using a 72"x11' hammock, and the extra material doesn't lay over my face. It also works well with my Phoenix. No calf ridge issue. The wider fabric just gives a little bit of extra wiggle room for me without stuff falling out of the hammock.

Have you looked at the Simply Light Designs streamliner hammock that is cat cut? It gives lots of extra foot and shoulder room. I've got his 2.4oz fabric (coyote brown) in the 10 ft length. Width on it is 60 inches. Works great with my JRB greylocks and my HG phoenix.

I made a d.l. Tablecloth hammock that's about 66". Very comfy and as soon as Dutch gets some wide 1.6 Hexon, I will make a single layer. He said he hopes to have it in by end of year.

I've settled in on widths in the 62 -64 inch range with Knotty Mods. Keeps everything in and works with my quilts.
Like the extra width compared to the mid 50's hammocks. Don't know that 72" would do me a lot of good since I'm 5'9"

I would love it if Dutch comes out with the 2.4 Hexon material in a 72" width ! Dutch made me a 12' long, 72" wide DL hammock. It is without a doubt the most comfortable hammock I own. I won't go narrower than 72" now.

72" 2.4 Hexon vote here! I hope Dutch see this !!!

I just did a hexon 72" wide. What a great hammock, so comfortable I almost kept it. I have switched over to a DIY bridge. But that 72" with the knotty mod was very comfortable. I made it for our Scout district executive he is not so tall and 375lbs. He just picked it up last night. He will be in for a big surprise when he get a full nights sleep for a change. Lol

I got it from RSBTR must be 70". It's still great stuff. Soft and because of the hexon pattern it stretches in every direction not just diagonal to the straight grid pattern of regular rip stop.

    It is good stuff.

The 70 refers to the denier of the thread used in the grid. The actual width is 67" with a selvage, finished width is about 66". Still wide, but not as wide as 70"-72". Have to go with the HyperD XL 1.6 for that, 72", 70-71" finished.
