    KAM snaps

I've been reading on these forums about the use of KAM snaps. These are new to me. I see on the web site that they come in a variety of sizes. What size are most of you using.? Also long or short post? I hope to be using these on UQ and TQ.

Also is there a better source than Amazon?

I bought the starter set that came with 100 size 20 snaps, you can pick out a set with the colors you want. They work great so far, used 4 on my TQ foot box and they don't come undone unless I pull them apart. I'm thinking about using them to add another layer to a BQ when needed. The snaps are cheaper on the kam site, don't know about the shipping though.

Size 20, regular prongs for most applications. The only time I've found a situation where long prongs would have been useful so far was when I was trying to put some snaps on a piece of CCF.

Thanks for the input. I was guessing the size 20 but just wanted to be sure.

I use size 14/16 (same snap, different button head). Seem to hold up well. I haven't compared to a larger snap, though, but they do what I need them to.

Do they require a special installer tool if you are only doing a few?

I used 20 as well on my top quilt and I'm happy with them. I believe you need to tool no matter what, wenestvedt, but if you're creative you may be able to come up with something!

You MIGHT be able to do it with a hammer and a punch...but the tool is pretty cheap (~$15 on amazon). And then you have it if you ever need/want it again.
