Nano 22 Carabiners for Hammock Suspension

Would the nano 22's be a good option for attaching webbing around a tree for your hammock, similar to a dutch clip? The specs seem strong enough for downward(?) force, but wrapping around a tree would put different forces on the biner. Also not sure if it's big enough for 1" webbing. Has anyone used these for this application before?

Lots of people use these. Well, the 23's since they were out for a while. One less gram on the new ones only makes them better! I use a green for the foot end (green=grass) and gold for the head end (gold=sun). Just makes life that much easier.

    $4.95, that's a steal!

Any climbing rated carabiner would be just fine. What you find at walmart or elsewhere that's not advertised for climbing is not likely to be strong enough But the 22/23's would be suitable as would those that are similar from Black Diamond, Metolius, DM and the other major carabiner companies.

Here is a picture of a non climbing rated binner being used to hold my 275 lbs. I knew it would happen so I was hanging close to the ground

Yep. The camp nanos have been on my webbing for quite a few years now. First put them on when the idea was just gaining popularity. I even tied a loop in the webbing instead of sewing because I was just experimenting. Well, the same biners and webbing are still attached to my hammock. I am still amazed at how long that joanns webbing has held up. The biners Inever gave a second thought about them failing. The hammock would tear before those broke.
