I love my little orbit lantern, by black diamond. Can be dimmed, very sturdy on ANY surface, and nice little clip system. just a good all around little lantern.

I've actually been fairly impressed with the Lucie solar lights. They're always still glowing strong in the morning and they seem recharge well even on less than optimal brightness days. I've only had them for 6 months tho so time will tell, but if I can get 1-2 years of light for <$20 and no batteries to buy, I'll call it a win.

I am a lifelong bedtime reader.
    I have a headlite and a luci-lite
My hammock has a ridge line. I NEED glasses to read. I just use my headlite. when I'm done, I hang my glasses and headlite on the ridgeline. Lately, I use a ereader which is illuminated. (Kindle Paperwhite in a case) it stores folded over the ridgeline.
I use the Luci-lite to find my hammock in the twilight or dark. Personally, I wouldn't want to read with it. Too big and bulky. YMMV

I love my Luci light mini, but my favorite is just a "walkout" light that I stuck into a ping-pong ball with some silicon tub caulk. Weighs zip and I just leave it clipped to my ridgeline.

Congratulations on your hammock purchase. Tents are a drag! I also love to read in the hammock, especially on these long winter nights. I went ahead and invested in a paper white kindle. Its not heavy if you consider the weight of a good book and it has its own light. I put it in the top of my pack in a freezer bag. You can also turn the page with a gloved hand. Just my preference. Good luck!

I have a Luminaid light that I can cram into the top of the hammock where the whipping and net come together. Very light and diffuses well.

So many options for hammock lights. I like to run Dutch's party light on my ridgeline.

I use my headlamp to read, but for general lighting I love the Black Diamond Moji light. It's small, puts out a lot of light, and clips to a ridge line easily. $20 at REI.

Everytime I see those on his site I wonder how well they would work. That would be cool to see.
