PA > Day Hike Recommendations Near Gettysburg

I am tagging along with the 9th Pennsylvania Reserves down to Gettysburg this weekend and was looking for a recommendation for a day hike.

You can do a day hike around the battlefield. If you want to get "out in to the woods" you could try Pine Grove Furnace or Caledonia State parks just to the west of Gettysburg. Check the PA DCNR for maps of the parks and Michaux State Forest which surrounds the parks. http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/

Should mention it's hunting season so if you go to the state forest use appropriate caution.

+2 on hike the battlefield. Our Scout troop walked eight miles and didn't see it all.
