You people know better than most what kind of rare OCD I have. What happens if I like them? Then, I have to go through all of my hammocks and change out the rings and webbing suspensions that live on most of them. Once that is done, because I never sell gear, I'd end-up with a huge pile of webbing, a few dozen lightweight biners, and countless rings.

Eventually, Genuine Draft would start working the math. She would then discover that there is a whole bunch of money sitting in that pile doing nothing. Further reflection would lead her down the path of wondering what I spent on replacement materials. Her final revelation would be in determining that I am in severe need of a butt kicking. Then she'd probably make me sleep in a bed for a long time and take her shoe shopping.

Nope. Not even looking at them.
Hmmm - maybe we should send Cannibal a whoopie sling ???

    Just a tiny nudge

    No way!
You're talking to the guy that still shuns cinch buckles. If that's not staying power, I don't know what is. Although, I do admit the Dutch clips that were sent to me have been working my resistance levels down several notches.

I doubt I'll be a hold-out on the Whoopies for too long. I've just got to let my rings and webbing depreciate a little while longer.

i've heard that the spike/toggle doesn't support any of the weight but still i'm concerned i might bend whatever is there and end up on the floor (no more ground for me!) has anyone heard of that?

and finally how do you tie off the webbing straps to/around the tree?
anyone have any videos or points of reference for me?
Ive had 370# in a Double Nest using the 7/64. Held fine.

Thanks. I tried my box cutter ( same as utility knife?), it didn't work. But, the blade wasn't new, so I'll get a new one.

How do y'all deal with frayed ends on Amsteel? Melt with a lighter, or will it need to high of a temp?

I generally use a simple back splice without stitching.

Splice the taper back into itself. No loose end.

    Go ahead dude-WhoOpie sling

    Hey Cannibal,
Now what are you waiting for..it doesn't get any cheaper than FREE!! And that way you can just tell Genuine Draft that somebody just sent you a gift. Besides, you probably want to put something new on that new hammock you just got. Remember..even Jack Nicholson learned to control his OCD in order to get the girl.

I'm thinking more in terms of getting the frayed end through the eye of the darning needle.

Just twist it tightly. Most of the needles that people use for this have a large enough eye that this is doable, once you 'taper' the end.
