CLOSED: Pertex Quantum

I started a thread over on the "sock/pod" section on the topic of Pertex. In that thread, it became evident that Pertex is not so easy to get on a retail basis here in the US. I've located a seller in the UK that has Pertex MicroLight (1.3 oz/yd) and may be able to get Pertex Quantum (0.9 pz/yd). She said she will check on Quantum with her wholesaler this week.

It's premature to have totals yet, but the Microlite is just over $6/yd before shipping from the UK. I have no idea of the price or availability of Quantum yet.

That being said, I thought I'd see if there is any interest in a group buy. I will hopefully be able to get one or both of the fabrics, and perhaps a group discount ( or at least a break on shipping).

Anyone interested???

I'm interested as you know! Pertex is used in sleeping bags, windshirts, Jackets, etc. If you look at some of your gear you might have something that is made of Pertex and not realize it. My Marmot sleeping bag is made from Pertex Quantum. Really nice fabric, possibly better or at least equal to Momentum 90.

If I get an idea of the volume we might need, that will put me in a better bargaining position when she gets back to me. Hopefully I can get an order in later this week.

Depending how much the quantum is per yard after shipping, I may be in for the group buy.

I have ordered some and its the real deal.

A guy on ebay uk is also selling microlight in teal. I bought pertex in 1.1 and microlight and just finished my first te-wa based design underquilt at the weekend.

That was the only vendor that I've found. She has offered to extend a 10% discount if the order is over 25 meters. The shipping was about $1.60/ meter. with the 10% discount and shipping, Pertex MicroLight comes to about US$6.38 . I have still not heard about the availability of the .9/oz Quantum.

That's not far off the price of plain ripstop nylon here. I was looking at getting 11 meters for myself. The rolls are 64 inches wide.
