Marking dimensions on lightweight fabrics (i.e. NoSeeum)

Curious how anybody successfully marks dimensions on lightweight/stretchy materials like noseeum? I have always used that waxy/chalk stuff, but that does not seem to stick very well to noseeum. Do I simply lack patience and persistence, or missing some special flick-of-the-wrist technique?

The best thing I have found is a metalic silver Sharpie. You don't have to apply much pressure to get the mark.

This is exactly what I was going to suggest.

I've been using white (normal) chalk. It does take a couple passes but marks everything pretty easy. I think the silver sharpie would work better and will give that a shot. However, moving a mark with chalk is not a problem.

i find the silver sharpie wears out pretty quick (at least the silver part)

I use colored pencils, the nice part being you can pick an easy to see color regardless of fabric, and they wash out on the first wash too... so no permanent marks like the sharpie.

Silver sharpie is nice, but you need something laying under it, unless you're ok marking your floors too!

I use simple blackboard caulk, and carve a flat edge into it for better precision. No need for multiple passes for me. Tailor's chalk would be best. It ends up a little faint on mesh, but good enough to cut and sew by for me. Perfect for solid fabrics.

I have found that on standard .9oz no seeum, I can mark with the sharpie and it does not go through to the table or floor. Now that might depend on how hard you are pressing and to be honest, I was surprised that it didn't show up on the table but I have marked several hundred feet of no seeum and have yet to have it bleed through on the table. YMMV

Nearly used up bar of soap, when it gets flat and starts to resemble the shape of tailors chalk.
