I haven't read through entirety of this thread, so forgive me if this was addressed:
I think this is possibly a good idea. I'm not sure if this is entirely original, but it's certainly not the norm. I've been wondering about a suspensionless UQ, which is not integrated. I thought about hooks or Velcro even.
I think an advantage that is not being considered is comfort. Everyone talks about efficiency, and I grant that when it comes to UQ's, that is #1.... But after that, I think about comfort and fiddling. I think that while an UQ is better on both points than pads, it still creates a slight restrictive factor to the hammock and there is some slight fiddling at times. Direct attachment may eliminate both those points, or at least improve upon.
