    Another new user from DC!

Just wanted to pop in and say hello! I've had interest in moving from my small one man tarp tent to a hammock for a few years now but haven't taken the plunge on a decent hammock. I have a cheap crummy hammock that I got from REI so I could test things out and it was, by far, the most comfortable I've been on a trip. After coming to this site I now see how huge the hammock ecosystem is with tons of manufacturers for gear and lots of DIY going on, which I like.

I am looking forward to picking up a quality hammock in the near future and putting it to use backpacking, bike touring, bikepacking, kayak camping, and car camping.

Welcome from MD. This area seems to be pretty well represented here on HF. You should drop by one of the hangs, even if you don't plan on staying the night. If you didn't see it, there is a NoVa hang this weekend and a winter hang at Marsden on the C&) (potomac) in Jan. Lots of good folk here on HF.

I did notice that but I'm out of town this weekend. Otherwise I'd check it out! January is a possibility if I get my winter setup by then. I'm probably going to pick up a Warbonnet Blackbird XLC in 2x 1.1 and see how my inflatable sleeping pad does for insulation until I get an underquilt.
