Time change and long nights ahead..

Go for a short night hike then curl up with a really good book and look at the stars.

I will read a paperback book or take the kindle with me.
I also like to listen to an audio book or podcast on my phone.

This winter will be my first attempts at winter camping (in Ohio, as least), but the plan is a kindle and a Morse code trainer. Of course, if I can see the stars through Ohio's cloudy skies, that would be great, but highly unlikely it seems!

I'm not sure. I've never run out of fire wood. I tend to just site by the fire until bedtime and enjoy the peace and quiet.

I am alway's ready for 12 hours in my hammock! If I end up sleeping less than 12 hours, it usually is an earlier morning when a sun rise may be just what the doctor ordered. If not, there is alway's coffee, eggs and ham in the ham mock! Shug sold a lot of us on breakfast in bed!

For whatever reason, when my dog curls up next to me in my hammock, I can only stay awake for a few minutes. Then we just sleep like Rip Van Winkle until the sun comes up.

I have a hard time camping in the winter just for that reason. My back won't tolerate 12 hours in a bed or hammock so I have to stay up till my normal bedtime. It makes for a long evening. I usually camp with other people so they can keep me entertained till it's bedtime.

I just need to hike farther so I'm thoroughly tired. I'm less and less inclined to make a fire if it involves gathering firewood. However, if there is someone with me who wants to gather firewood, I won't complain!

I usually bring my little Emberlit EL Mini titanium stove - if I really need a fire that tiny thing gives off some ambiance.
