Another great hang this year! The weather was about as perfect as anybody could ask for, the food plentiful and excellent (if you went hungry it was your own fault), the decorations amazing, the company wonderful, and the conversations hilarious. The new folks weren't scared off by our general craziness (or if they were, they did a good job of hiding it). The only downside from those conversations is that I may never watch Star Wars again without either hearing banjo music or thinking about David's Yoda impression ("Hmm, a purty mouth you have, hmm")...but I also learned what a wookie sounds like when he's sick, and that no matter how often you try, an owl won't respond to your calls when your campsite is lit up like the end of a runway. Better luck next time CAS...or was it changed to HindLick?

Some of the pictures I was able to get (more coming):

Apparently they make stands for pumpkins, so it looks like the pumpkin was carved when it's actually not...

A huge thank you to all who donated to the raffle.

The Hotlips kitchen, looking a little smaller than it was at Smoked Butt, but don't let that fool you, it still cranks out a lot of excellent food.

ODH did have a couple members show up, so we had to represent.

On Saturday, we found out just how into Halloween Starfish_Comet is, as she brought out about 10 pumpkins to be carved (and I think she carved about 6 of them herself). DRLupton's wife (whose name I don't know how to spell) and Beth joined in on the pumpkin carving activities.

Kingsford took some time to teach the kids (and Stubbie) how to light a fire with more primitive means (flint and steel, ferro rods, etc)...the kids caught on pretty quickly. Stubbie's still working on it.

The raffle went really well, there were plenty of items in each tier, and the assistants were much better this year (no attempted peaking or "selective drawing"). Unfortunately, my stealthy ways carried over to my raffle tickets, and not a single one was called throughout the raffle. Koolranch, being the class act that he is, saw this and actually donated his top-tier prize -- the smoker -- to me. Very awesome of him to do so (and very greatly appreciated), though there were a few who wanted to watch him find a way to strap that smoker onto his motorcycle for the trip home. Definite proof of how awesome this group of people is, as I cannot think of another group where people would do something like that.

After each meal, it's important to let your food settle...preferably with a nice nap in the hammock!

Still a few more pictures to come

Good job wraith....I still say you and star_fish comet are the real party animals. A very late stay around Saturday night camp fire. Cas (AKA pumpkina$$) called and called but the owls just wouldn't come.
