I use a piece of tyvek, about 3x4, when backpacking. I use a old tent footprint when car camping and I have more stuff.

I made a rain kilt from 1.9 ripstop nylon, then DIY silicone sealed it. Use it on ground under hammock for gear, and also serves as a pack cover if needed.
I've gone to find myself. If I get back before I return, make sure I stay here.

When I see lovers' names carved into a tree, I don't think it's cute. I think it's strange how so many people take knives on a date.

I use a piece of an old shower curtain. Pretty cheap at the dollar store.

It's nice to have a dry place to step in and out of the hammock and to set things on to keep them out of the mud. You can make one that pulls triple duty with a little imagination. UQ protector, door for one end of your tarp, gear hammock, pack cover, footprint, kitchen sink.

It's a good piece of gear that you can use to do lots O stuffs.

Pretty sure Shug uses the same small piece of plastic for years now. He says it's become like an old friend he's use to seeing out on the trail. I use my pack cover, until I use it for a gear hammock, or something else. Now that I think of It, seldom gets used as a pack cover any more. I guess it's just too handy

I've never used a footprint when hanging. The only thing on the ground when I'm at camp are my shoes. My pack is basically empty when I setup camp, so it goes in my hammock under my caffs or hangs from my suspension if it is wet. The first thing I do when I choose a hang site is setup my tarp so I have a dry area for me to work under.

I mostly car camp, so not worried about weight, and use a 3X5 piece of heavy poly.
It's nice to have a clean dry spot to step on and store gear/shoes and WHY.
