    Costco Underquilt Build

Double layer UQ with added epsilon and matching single layer wearable TQ with snap foot box. Made for a buddy of mine- Great little quilts. Differentially cut the inside quilt a tad to let the two loft a bit. Don't know if it'll actually work, but seemed like a good idea. Fit back in the original stuff sack, barely.

    Awesome, Coo0kie!

Picked mine up last night. My 2 cents, though I'm sure this has been covered before.

15.6 ounces, feels like a 40 degree quilt, maybe 50. I'm going to tape a velcro foot box for the TQ and make a UQ for 3 seasons and a spare set. Shape is square, a little awkward.

And they're sold on Amazon, too.IMG_7175.jpg

Looks Great!! just curious, from quick counting of your baffles, I came up with 40w x 70L, is that correct? does that mean you used a throw and a half to make a double layered UQ? And when you say slight differential cut, do you mean that the inner layer is a little narrower than the outer layer? Again, these look great

Thanks for the kind words, all!

You got it right! My buddy wanted a full length quilt so the baffles I cut off of the width, I added to the length. I did however get in a hurry and made it a bit narrow I think. But it's for a bridge hammock so I think it'll be ok.

The brown layer that faces the hammock is smaller- yes.

Quick question and forgive me if it was mentioned in other posts...but what size shock cord do you use for the suspension system? 1/8", 1/4", bigger? I was able to get 2 of these quilts and was planning on sewing them together (offset somewhat to minimize the seam overlap)...this is my first attempt at making an underquilt for my Hennessy Classic Explorer, but am hoping between the UQ and a pad, I can get down in to the 20s here in the Colorado Rockies...

I prefer 1/8" for underquilts. I can't imagine ever needing any bigger than that. I don't think I could take that setup down to 20°, but I'm a super cold sleeper.
    Good luck with your build!
