    10d vs 15d

Got a group of guys about to put in a large order and was wondering what fabric people have chosen and why. Spending this much money, I'd like to get it right the first time Thanks in advance.

15d is slightly thicker and more commonly used as an outer layer for quilts, whereas the 10d is lighter and sillier feeling and usually used for the inner layer. Obviously the 10d is going to weigh less but could be more prone to snags/tears if you aren't careful. If you only have one choice, I would opt for 15d

All my quilts are 10d and I wouldn't change a thing. I do take care to be gentle with my gear. If you don't mind the extra ounce or so, 15d is slightly more durable.

I got the 10d because I don't roll around in thorns with my quilt 15d is probably a good choice for the outside layer of your uq if you don't plan to use an uqp, the slightly thicker fabric is probably better at stopping wind stealing warmth. Or all over if you're rough with your gear.

I have 10d on my quilt's outershell and after about 20 nights out I haven't noticed any discernible wear or problems. I don't necessarily go out of my way to baby the quilt, but I treat it carefully as I would any other lightweight textile. I do not pack it in its stuff sack while on the trail, just stuff it into the bottom of my pack, so it might be treated rougher than some users who store it in the stuff sack. The 10d is still very downproof, I have not seen a single piece of down come out yet. Hope this helps.
