Amsteel without arm and leg shipping costs?

I just priced 30ft of 1/8 amsteel ast redden marine. The total was 7.30 plus $8.89 shipping!! Is thee another place I can order it from that won't charge an outrageous shipping fee? Also is 1/8 thick enough for suspension?

Our own pgibson has it @ Arrowhead Equipment. Paul is the finest kind...you can't go wrong.

1/8 is sufficient.

Just call in your order to Redden instead of placing it online. They will give you actual shipping costs that way. This has been the case for quite a large number of people.

I recently paid $15 plus $3.45 for USPS Priority mail shipping for 100 ft of 7/64 with an online order.

You can pm Craig at Redden. His alias on here is Amsteel House. He will respond with the details of how to get 10% off for Hammock Forum members.
I bought 200' at $0.24 per foot. The $4.80 discount wiped out the $4.95 shipping charge. I placed the order on-line because it was 10:00 at night.
The other option mentioned above is Paul at Arrowhead Equipment. If you like good, fast service, you'll be pleased with either of these.

I placed my order online, shipping was under $5 for priority mail. I mentioned Hammock Forums in the comments section, and they replied that they applied a 10% discount to my order. They have definitely earned my return business.

What he said. I ordered 50' of 1/8 from Paul over the weekend, it got here today. 18 & change shipped, not to mention lots of help thru PM's. A great guy & he's one of us. Thanks Paul!
