Tarps do not come in cheap and light unless you DIY one. Also remember you purchased and 11' hammock which means you can't use a 9' tarp. Now add to that you would like it for ground cover and ...poof you need a bigger tarp. I also prefer non cat cut tarps for ground cover use which only makes it heavier.

Only you can decide if you want cheap or light and if you can DIY an item. If you want light you should be looking at Cuban Fiber tarps but be prepared for sticker shock

Personally for my day pack I carry a BCUSA 10x10 but it is not light at 1lb 7oz. I also carry a 10' hammock not the 11'. I like the BCUSA tarp because of all the tie outs on it. I can set up easily on the ground if no trees available or A frame for more coverage.

Deb's right, you need a big enough tarp for your hammock. I personally find that everyone's definition of what is "cheap" and what is "light" is very different. Not knowing a more specific price/weight combo makes it tough but I just saw on massdrop a UGQ tarp for around $86. Full disclosure I know next to nothing about this model and don't use a UGQ tarp myself, but it's in what I consider an inexpensive price range for a tarp/fly, and the 11 footer only weights 12oz.

If you can sew this would be easier as a DIY solution would be pretty cost effective. Have you thought about just a package of 3mil drop cloth? While I wouldn't use it more than once, it's cheap, light and would keep you dry. Probably a one use item though.

My first tarp was the Snugpak 10x10. Its got plenty of tie out loops/ corner grommets, an over 15' RL if you pitch it as a diamond, has snaps on 2 sides to be made into an emergency bivy if needed , includes guy lines/ tensioners and is only $50 on Amazon. Ive used it at home almost all summer and now into the fall and have never had a problem getting wet since the RL is so long. Its not from a US cottage vendor, but a small UK company. I've been using it more than my HH typhoon fly that has doors since its a lot bigger.

I would say check out the tadpole on Dutch's site. You could go with a Walmart tarp. But they are bulky but cheap.

I agree with the plastic 3 mil painters drop. you can get a 9x12 for $6. A roll of mason line and a few knots and you have a small light emergency setup.

Or just buy 8 yards of fabric. flat felled seam the two together then add small grosgrain loops every 2 feet around the perimeter. You'll have a light and cheap 12x10 tarp with more options than you know what to do with.

I like a Terra Nova tarp. Lots of sizes and not too heavy.

Cost effective tarp to cover an 11 foot hammock? Try Hennessy hex tarp. Should be around $70. That's what I'm currently using for my 11 foot hammock.
