    Storm flaps...?

Has anybody tried making something in the way of a long, narrow tarp that could hang off the rear tie-out points of your regular tarp, get staked directly to the ground and act as a storm/draft/snow barrier?

Maybe a bungee in a channel sewn along the top, so that it would conform to the back-shape of your hammock tarp?

Thanks, but I didn't see anything.
I am not sure I know how to refine the search enough to find what I am considering... the "tarp doors" return was pretty random. Everything from trip reports to UQ inquiries.

Try using Google instead of the forum search engine. Just include hammock forum in the search bar. It works much much better.

Excellent idea on the search ...

    On the "flaps":
What I am looking at doing is not like the GrizzBeaks or SuperFly ends, but rather something along the back bottom... not the ridge-ends.
My Draumr runs at right angles to a regular hammock, so you can't pull the tarp in close enough without pushing up against the head and foot boxes.
I may try both doors and a ground-flap out of Tyvek just for proof-of-concept.
Shouldn't be too hard to throw some test pieces together on a good afternoon.

I'd be very interested in knowing how these turn out. Simple drawings or photos would be great. I am looking to build a winter tarp for NASTY rain/snow and wind and with out getting into a really big tarp I am looking for ideas to seal out wind from under the tarp.

I would suggest if the tarp is not providing the coverage/blockage necessary for the hammock, site selection and conditions, one would best find the solution in a different tarp instead of retrofitting the current tarp.

I have a number of tarps, but I basically use 2. My 3 season tarp and my winter tarp.

I ordered the Grizz Beaks. I like the idea that I can take one set of both if needed. Depending upon the weather.
I refuse to be old! Life is too short to sit on the couch!! Let's go hanging!!

'Tarp skirt' is another term that has been used in a few previous discussions of this idea and may be a helpful search term for a google/HF search.
