Thanks! I noticed that there is a bike packing section but there is no threads in there yet. I will no doubt post more vids up here in the future.

I ride a Jamie dragon 29er. I have a ftatbike also it just kills me going up the hills. Kenda is releasing a new tire in December they will be just over one pound each. Hoping that will make the hills more enjoyable. I am also looking into a underquilt for my next trip. Doesn't get as cold here in Florida but it will still get into the 30s.

I will use a Specialized 29'er, hardtail with front suspension. I think a 15 - 20 liter bag on a seat post rack and a 12 liter on the handlebars with a small backpack.

I changed up quite a lot of things from my first trip and planned out pretty much everything to take given that I was nowhere near the car once I got to my camp. Once things I forgot to mention in my gear list above is that I always take my Spot with me for safety.

Have fun on your first trip!

Sounds good. Either bike would be a good choice. Depending on your fatbike set up you could run a smaller chainring or a new rear cassette like a one up. My bike is a 1 x 11 (11 - 42T) setup with 28t chain ring up front and I find that I have plenty range with that.

I will need to check out the new tires your talking about. With running tubeless I'm guessing that I've saved a pound or two on the rotating mass.

Nice one dirtwheels. Think my front bag is 12l and holds my -20C sleeping bag, down jacket, with a thermarest strapped on top. The seat bag is probably around 10l and I put my hammock, and extra clothes in there. For the frame itself I tend to put heavy items there to keep the center of gravity low..... so stove, gas cannister, water filter etc.

    Have fun!!!!

I've been liking the idea of bikepacking. Time gets in the way.

Great video. I like how you crossed the water to position your camera and then went back for your bike! The mountains are beautiful.
