This is just a laid back gathering of hammock minded folks. Plenty of space and no reservations needed. This is a great hang for anyone that wants to attend. New people can test out gear and more experienced ones can help or just relax in the trees. There are plenty of trails, we will have a fire and you can usually count on people making some extra food for the group.

This is where is is. Yates is located inside the Uwharrie National Forest about 15 minutes east of Albemarle and 10 west of Troy. Here is more info on Uwharrie.

There is no running water or flushing bathrooms. There is a vault toilet, garbage picked up, fire pits, parking and plenty of trees. If the group decides to add group meals or anything else we will add it to the ss, but for now its just going to be a sign up sheet.

I havent put it on the calender yet. As always, you are quite welcome. Oh and kingsford as well. The spring hang is usually more popular. Many waiting to get back outdoors. Which is the opposite for me. I am just starting in the fall.

Sounds fun! I'll try to be there. I'm just now getting plugged in here on the forum. I've been active on the Linville Gorge forum for a few years. Glad to see other folks from NC here!

Great place to hang. Too early to know if I can make it but I hope. Will we have another death march thru the mountains ?

I am going to try and make this one but will be dependent on my physical rehab. It's been a rough go. Joints and bone mend great but muscles and nerves have a mind of their own. It really sucks when you can't do what you love to do especially since my seasons or just starting, Fall through Spring. I sure have hated to have missed the last few hangs.

Take your time. This is a laid back event. If you can sit on the couch then yates will work.

I will be thinking about you folk on halloween weekend. Enjoy and see in the spring, if all goes well.

Oh I am so sorry, I guess you didnt read the part about no gorge rats allowed... the more the merrier. I will have to admit the uwharries are nothing compared to the gorge. We I guess it depends on what you are looking for. Good to see more people getting outside anywhere.

Well I don't see a conflict for hangs for these dates. I'll talk to KingsFord and see if we can make it. If we come we won't bring the trailer. Just a simple one pot cooking set up. I'll do some white bean chili or something for a dinner on Saturday. Maybe we can work on a themed meal for Friday night?
