Hanging out in MN

Hello fellow hangers! I am brand new to hammock camping, this past weekend was my first backpacking trip with out the tent. I pulled a total newb move and grabbed 4 Lbs of ENO gear ... I loved sleeping in the hammock, it was the first time in a long time I woke up without back pain from laying down. I'll make the best of my heavy set up for a while and will always have it for my son to use and leave it in the truck for impromptu hangs or car camping. the hammock really gives a new perspective on backpacking and makes it more adventurous IMO. I look forward to learning a lot more and fine tuning a nice and light set up for the trails to come. Anyone else from MN?Ive been watching Shug and Fronkeys videos and laughing all the way! happy hanging!

Welcome neighbor! You can't be more than a few miles away. There are lots of MN people here it seems.

Howdy hoo!
Hang, your observation about the lack of back pain mirror mine.
I'd toss and turn throughout the night and really couldn't wait for morning.

I think that weight could be an issue unless one has really invested heavily in down equipment.
It could be for me as well, but I like carrying extra FOOD!

Welcome from just west of you! Lake Maria State Park is a backpacking park that is real close by. Have been meaning to try it out myself. I have used my hammock on about 7 backpacking trips and will never go back. Once you figured out what your comfortable with you can start lighting up the pack....
