Im about to make a new hammock, iv never slept in one with a footbox.
Are they worth making? it would seem to help for sure.
Are their plan available? I haven't seem any with my googlefo.

I think it depends on who you ask. I did experiment with foot boxes a while back and did not like it then but not because of the function but it had other effects on the hammock I did not like at the time, a high side wall. I have partly changed my mind but footboxes is not on my agenda currently.
There are several ways to make a footbox. If you use the forum search function you will get approx 3000 hits so there is information and opinions. Not all of the hits are for hammocks but a lot of them are. I recommend you do some reading before you start.
If there is nothing left to learn it’s time to die.
Live and learn.
I'm doing fine without, but if I were to add one I would try the Knotty mod: https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...h-Side-Hammock
my fabric is not that wide. I need to flop out in my old hammock and really pay attention.

I like footboxes. I don't like the Knotty mod.
In my opinion the footbox changes the lay; since you can lie much closer to the edge than with a normal hammock, it technically increases the width of the hammock. You might also want to look at the "Ghost hammock" which uses the footbox to cut weight. I also like the pre-made "channel" which takes pressure off my legs.
The Knotty mod on the other hand decreases the usable width of the hammock. I would only use one with an extra wide hammock. The only reasons to use the Knotty mod in my opinion are to deal with the "floppy" fabric (which seems to bother quite a few people) and to keep your quilt / sleeping bag / feet in the hammock. I don't like the increased curve of the hammock body, which is exactly the opposite of what a proper footbox does.
There is another interesting mod that I haven't tried yet, but which looks promising: the stretchable footbox.
