Continuous Suspension/Ridgeline system with UCR/Whoopie Combo

I've been working on a new suspension system recently (well, I think it's new).
Using a single 30' length of 2.5mm Dyneema (7/64" Amsteel in US money) going from one tree strap to the other.
the hammock is suspended from this using two UCRs for each end, adjustable along the long line (SLS).
As a little twist, the UCR is combined with a whoopie so that the hammock can be suspended at different heights below the long line.

    Tutorial here,
    https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...rial-(for-SLS)

    I think some pictures might help at this juncture;

as you can see the UCR and the whoopie are combined for part of their length.
Took a bit of trial and error to see what lengths would hold, I settled on 9" UCR bury, and a 11" combined whoopie/UCR bury, 20" in total. The advantage of this over a plain UCR, is that the suspension loop can be made very small. The UCR would have to have a loop plus a tapered bury that would make the hammock hang lower.

The hammock cam be moved anywhere along the SLS, this might be handy when pitching up/down the slope, you could push the hammock closer to the downhill tree.
Here the DD Jungle Modular is pitched without the spreader hoops, the bugnet is hooked to prussiks on the ridgeline.

Another view of the UCR/whoopie combo

A closeup of hammock soft shackle attached to the combined whoopie/UCR, see how small the loop is entering the whoopie and therfore how close to the ridgeline

This is the DD Modular with the spreader hoops but no bugnet.
The bars are held onto the ridgeline with prussik loops.

Here I have lengthened the whoopies, so that the ridgeline rides higher over the hammock, to give more room for the hoops.

This is the whoopie fully extended, effectively making the rather short 105" DD modular 18" longer at each end.

This is the mini tarp that comes with the DD Modular, pitched directly onto the SLS.
Not terrible good form I know (slap wrists), but it kinda works. Would look neater with the hoops under, giving better shape.

This thread shows how to rig it

I know what you will say, "with 20 inch buries at each end, it'll be tricky with close trees or short tarps."
Well, the UCR will fit through the big eye on the LoopAlien.

Using the soft shackle directly onto to the LoopAlien for very short length hangs

Interesting concept. At full length around 30 ft, how much sag and distance to the ground do you get in the hammock when you're in it?
I've tried the long line with alpine butterfly loops, but could not get the anchor ends high enough on trees in camping instances to keep my rear end off the ground.

I'm not understanding how this works--I'm impressed. And scared at the same time. Are you going to make a video?

Allways amazed at how many differant ways others have come up with to hang thier set ups, never seen this one before, good luck with it but not for me, i have been working on making my setups more simple with less pieces, strap or cinch buckle to cl's are all i need.

GadgetUK437. Wow. Do UCR and whoopie both go inside bury at same place? Looks like quantum leap in splicing and SLS

I was wondering the same thing. Looks like two lines in one bury.

Indeed, well at least for the first half. That is the reason the bury is so long.
The combined whoopie and UCR part is 11", it needs to be longer because of the twin lines down the middle.
The last part is UCR only, it's 9" with a prussik to keep tension on the end.

GadgetUK437. When you are in hammock. Are the UCR and whoopie, that are inside the bury, being pulled in opposite directions or are the both being pulled in the same direction? I hope you make a video to explain the way it works and show us your new suspension.

All works in the same direction.
I'll try to get a video done tomorrow.
